Meet the Department VIP – Anahi Arellano, Ovation Fertility Operations Coordinator
Many Ovation® Fertility employees find their homes in the fertility field after working in different industries. Anahi Arellano, this month’s Department VIP, is one of these people, and we couldn’t be happier to have her on our team.
How Did You Get Into Your Line of Work?
I joined Ovation in 2018. I started with the organization as an administrative assistant. I then transitioned into an operations coordinator where I worked closely with our COO.
When the pandemic hit, we transitioned my role into HR, where I assisted Laura with day-to-day tasks, and when we started to open back up, I became heavily involved with recruitment.
Before I joined Ovation, I worked for a truck manufacturer doing billing and accounting. However, I wasn’t passionate about that field and I was ready for a career change. When an opportunity at Ovation came along, I saw it as a chance to work in an industry I felt connected to.
What’s an Average Day Like for You?
My main focus in HR is recruiting, so I spend a lot of my time reviewing resumes and applications for prospective employees and scheduling interviews. Sourcing the best talent for our organization has its challenges as finding an Embryologist or anyone with IVF experience is not common.
When I’m not reviewing resumes or scheduling interviews, I onboard our new talent and assist our current staff with any issues they may have. My goal is to help keep everything running smoothly and provide as much assistance to our team so that they can focus on improvement for the organization.
What’s Your Favorite Part of Working for Ovation?
I think my favorite part of working at Ovation is being able to help couples create their families and provide the opportunity to individuals who want to control when they want to have a family. I have seen firsthand in my personal life how fertility treatment has brought people their biggest joy. I love being a piece of the puzzle that provides them with the support the patients need. I don’t think I could ever leave the fertility industry.
Why Is Ovation’s Work So Important?
Ovation helps people start and grow their families, which is beautiful and important work. However, we do more than help families come together. We help those who are not ready for parenthood by providing egg, embryo, and sperm freezing and storage. We can also help people who have health issues preserve their fertility. We’re empowering people by giving them options in terms of their fertility.
What Do You Like To Do Outside of Work?
I’m a mom of two boys and my oldest son plays baseball, so I spend a lot of time at the baseball field after work and on the weekend. On the off chance we are not at the field, we love spending time outdoors, going on hikes and eating or cooking food.
