Comprehensive PGT Options to Support Embryo Selection
Ovation’s state-of-the-art genetics laboratory provides quick, accurate preimplantation genetic testing to aid in embryo selection. Our PGT services are available to all fertility care providers, and represent the best available genetic tests to support selection of embryos with the best chance of creating a healthy pregnancy.
Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A)
Ovation PGT-A uses advanced next generation sequencing (NGS) technology to analyze the 23 pairs of chromosomes within individual cells taken from an embryo, allowing for the selection of euploid, chromosomally healthy embryos for transfer. While PGT is valuable for anyone using IVF to conceive, it is especially beneficial for those with:
- Advanced maternal age (35 years or older)
- Previous IVF failure
- A previous child with a genetic condition
- A history of recurrent miscarriages
- Unexplained infertility
Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Chromosomal Structural Rearrangements (PGT-SR)
Combined with PGT-A, PGT-SR examines chromosomes from each biopsied embryo to identify any chromosomal structural rearrangements, in which pieces of chromosomes are missing, duplicated or misplaced. Ovation PGT-SR can detect reciprocal translocations, Robertsonian translocations and chromosomal inversions, and is recommended when a patient or partner:
- Is a known carrier of a structural rearrangement
- Has been given an abnormal karyotype testing result
- Has had a child with a chromosome rearrangement
Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic or Single-Gene Defects (PGT-M)
PGT-M can test embryos for virtually any specific single-gene condition. Using blood from an affected relative, Ovation’s partner reference lab will develop a genetic probe to be used to test the embryo’s DNA. The test uses karyomapping technology, which looks at the genetic fingerprint of embryo samples to deliver results that are more than 95% accurate. Patients may need PGT-M if they or their partner are carriers of, or are affected by, a single-gene disorder or hereditary cancer syndrome, such as:
- Cystic fibrosis
- Fragile X syndrome
- Huntington’s disease
- Breast or ovarian cancer (BRCA1 and 2)
