Meet the Department VIP – Tevis Lambert, Intended Parent Specialist, Center for Surrogate Parenting

Tevis Lambert has unique knowledge about what happens at the Center for Surrogate Parenting because she has been a surrogate twice, and she also works as an intended parent specialist. She is new to this position, but prior to working in her new job, she served as communications coordinator.

How did you get into your line of work?

I am a two-time surrogate with CSP. Currently, I’m on my second journey. My first surrogacy opened me up to the surrogacy world. I loved working with CSP as a surrogate, and I thought I might enjoy working there. I started reaching out to the director at the time, and the position of communications coordinator became available. I got it, and I love working at CSP so far.

I had an amazing experience as a first-time surrogate, and my journey now, although different, is just as good. That moment when you deliver, and you get to see intended parents with their babies, it’s so worth it. It’s amazing.

What’s an average day like for you?

I’m only on day two in my job as an intended parent specialist. I’m taking over a caseload for a coworker who is on maternity leave, so I’m spending a lot of time just getting to know my intended parents and working with my coworkers to find matches for them with surrogates.

I’m still helping with the role that I had as a communications coordinator. I send out responses to intended parents who are inquiring about our program. I answer the phone, send out administrative documents. All sorts of things.

What’s your favorite part of working for Ovation?

I really enjoy the whole team. Everybody is super supportive, especially with all the transitions going on. Nobody is left to be on their own. There’s always somebody who can answer a question. We have so much experience on this team.

There’s a lot of transition going on at CSP, and everybody has rallied together to support each other and our mission. That doesn’t always happen when you go through major transitions like we are going through, and I think that’s something to be proud of. It makes it enjoyable to work with this team. I’m really thankful to be where I am.

Why is Ovation’s work so important?

Ovation and CSP play a huge role in peoples’ lives, providing support and the direction that these families need to make or grow their families. It feels so important to me, and I love it. What we do is just a small step in their lives, but it’s a huge step in helping them move forward with their egg retrievals, finding a doctor through Ovation or, on our end, finding a surrogate. Hopefully, the steps we take will give them a good start on their family journey.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I have a 6-year-old and a 4-year-old. We do a lot of activities — gymnastics, t-ball — all of the things that the kids like to do. I have so much fun spending time with them. I’m a very active person, so playing sports with my kids and my husband is really what we do outside of work. I have been a t-ball coach three times and a basketball coach, things that I never thought I would be doing.
